More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I'm passionate about self-discovery and learning about the world around me. I'm always discovering something new through my travels or through my work. I'll never be finished exploring no matter how old I get! But the thing I'm most passionate about is building a deeply satisfying relationship with someone special - are you that someone?

I typically spend my leisure time

When I'm not working I long to be in nature (making winters really difficult!) Hiking and camping along the Superior Hiking Trail is my latest passion. One day I'd love to try some of the better known parks out west like Yosemite! I also love traveling, I'm looking forward to visiting Japan or Australia or New Zealand. And when I'm home, a good book (currently into short stories) is a great way to relax.

The most influential person in my life has been

I'm looking for someone with similar interests in entertainment, travel, health, fitness, personal growth and spirituality - one who understands and balances my qualities and shares some of the same goals and passions. Above all, I'm looking for someone who finds joy in all they do and feels like they don't have any time to waste in exploring life's possibilities!

The first thing people notice about me

I have been told more than once "You are one of the nicest people I've ever met!" On the one hand, it's a bit of a curse to be labeled "nice" but on the other hand, I appreciate that people notice how I make an effort to be considerate and compassionate.

The last book I read and enjoyed

'Replay' by Ken Grimwood - "In this intriguing fantasy adventure, Jeff Winston, a failing 43-year-old radio journalist, dies and wakes up in his 18-year-old body in 1963 with his memories of the next 25 years intact." I love how the author weaves in metaphysical concepts without calling undue attention to them. The characters are very accessible and I felt engrossed by the story on almost every page! Just finished "Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal " - what a hoot! I honestly spent 5 minutes laughing out loud at one particularly funny passage! A very irreverent, surely blasphemous but thoroughly entertaining novel!

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. Excellent health. I take care of myself, eat well and exercise. I'm not overweight and I have no physical issues whatsoever. I take no prescription medications, I can't even remember the last time I took a pain reliever (not that I'd want to) and I have a lot of energy and desire for all sorts of activities!
  2. My three wonderful kids! They are successful, independent and well-adjusted and the greatest joy of my life!
  3. What I have experienced in life so far. It hasn't always been easy and sometimes I can't understand the purpose but I wouldn't change a thing. I have learned how to love and find joy and be present in any/all situations and that's made every experience worthwhile.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

I like to have fun! Dining out, picnicking at the Lake Harriet band shell in the summertime, enjoying the lakes, taking in a performance at the Dakota Jazz club, a show at the Guthrie or the Ordway, a new exhibition at the MIA. I look forward to the Uptown Art Fair, Minnesota Fringe, Aquatennial, State Fair and the Farmers Markets to name just a few - I love them all. But I also I like to maintain balance in life - not too much or too little of any one thing.
