The one thing I am passionate about...
I am passionate about creativity and artistic expression. I also love learning and understanding the world around me. I feel most fulfilled when I know I am doing something that makes a positive difference in another person's life. My faith in Jesus is central and affects every part of my life.
I typically spend my leisure time
Reading...Bible and news are the daily priority, and then whatever else I have time for. I also listen to various audio books and sermons while I'm working. About two years ago I started painting ceramics and now I make it to the studio once a week. I enjoy baking...there is such a feeling of satisfaction when you've made something beautiful and delicious from scratch! I enjoy walking outdoors everyday and being out in the sunshine! Having grown up in Havelock, I'm used to military life in a small town, and going to the beach is always a good way to make your own entertainment.
The most influential person in my life has been
Active, passionate pursuit of Christ is number one. I want a man after God's heart and someone who can become my best friend. I also like to find humor in everyday situations, so if we can do that together and share some laughs, that's a plus! Do you put your hands up on all the big rollercoasters? We should talk :)
The first thing people notice about me
Probably that I'm quiet! I tend to be friendly but reserved with those I don't know well.
The last book I read and enjoyed
I love to read. I'm reading my Bible, of course, but the last few books I've read were by Kris Vallotten about the supernatural and spiritual warfare. I enjoyed them because they help me understand the world better and empower my walk with Christ. I like classic literature, books about Godly relationships, scientific studies, investigative journalism -- the range is broad. I'm curious and I like to learn new things...but if we're being really honest here, the last book I read was a technical manual for a Harrier. It was about landing gear, so..not many exciting plot twists. :)
The three things which I am most thankful for
- Jesus. I am a whole person because of my relationship with Him.
- My family. I am blessed to have people around me that I have known my whole life and that have become my closest friends as an adult.
- My health. I get sick very rarely, and I'm thankful I have the strength and energy to enjoy my life.
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
I can have fun! I think my initial reserve gives some people the impression that I'm a stick in the mud, but I'm just polite in first encounters.
Friends Describe me as
Articulate, Funny, Hard Working, Kind
A little more about me
I have a BA in French and an MA in International Studies. I lived in France for a semester as an undergraduate and haven't been out of the US in a few years, but I would love to get some more use out of my passport in the future!! I enjoy different cultures, languages, and foods. I am good at my job but it's not my life's aspiration to edit tech manuals for the Marine Corps. I listen to more standup comedy than music. I love to laugh!
