The one thing I am passionate about...
I am passionate about God's story alive and active in and around us. I love books, movies, comic books, video games, role playing games, music, anything that is an avenue for storytelling. I'm passionate about living, talking, writing truthfully. I'm not always great at it. The worst lies are the ones we tell ourselves and I, like you, am learning and growing everyday. I'm passionate about being the best dad that I can be. Last but certainly not least, I'm passionate about grace. Grace is truly an amazing and scandalous thing poured out on me over and over and over again.
I typically spend my leisure time
More than anything I enjoy Game Night with my friends. If not doing that or planning for that I'm working on my computer/server, watching movies, listening to audiobooks or podcasts. Of course everything gets put on pause when I have my son. When he's around life is about playing as often as possible!
The most influential person in my life has been
Be real. Be truthful. Be kind. Care about the things I care about. Love my kid. And I know you love God, and praise the Lord for that, but be honest and truthful because maybe you don't have all your shit together and that's okay. Praise God, that's the point! We are a mess of the Image of God shackled by sin and in the midst of it all He saves us over, and over so don't be afraid to let your messiness show. Oh and come play a rpg with me. I want to know how much empathy you have, if you can walk in another person's shoes and create something wonderful there. Trust me, you'll have a blast playing make-believe again.
The first thing people notice about me
Depending on the circumstances I can either be very talkative or very quiet.
The last book I read and enjoyed
Read the Princess Bride. Seen the movie but never read it. Could you believe how shocked I was to find out all of that fanciful stuff actually happened! Planning a trip to Florin now. Disappointing that the Cliffs of Insanity are such a hot tourist attraction. ;)
The three things which I am most thankful for
- Grace of God
- My son
- My friends and family
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
In Scott Pilgrim vs the World a character says, "I mean, I didn't know there was good music until, like, two months ago!" I feel like that sometimes. Anything pop culture/nerd culture before college I have a limited knowledge. And I may have a degree in English, but I can't spell worth a darn. Also, my "friends describe me as" section got hijacked by my friends. They fell over laughing when they saw "easy-going" and promptly changed it to "passionate", so there's that...
Friends Describe me as
Caring, Loyal, Passionate, Spiritual
A little more about me
I'm a geek and a nerd...but the cool kind I like to think... I work in IT and intend to go into Security. I love playing d and d and 40k and video games and getting into long discussions about comic book heroes and movies and TV shows and literature... If you talk literature it requires a glass of bourbon, or wine, or coffee or at least some tea. I watch live shows of nerdy ass voice actors playing Dungeons and Dragons and cheer and tear up. I also water-ski and snowboard and go bow hunting and hiking and running. I'm broken and made new and I'm covered by grace upon grace upon grace... grace all the way down...
