The one thing I am passionate about...
I enjoy studying psychology, history, biography, and broadly throughout the humanities. I love chess, but for fun not taking it too seriously. I love the state of Flow chess brings, as explained by psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. I like dogs and cats. I like NPR, PBS. I enjoy creative problem solving and decision making, such as building things, learning, troubleshooting complex systems. I enjoy creativity and designing things from scratch. I enjoy and collect books. By eHarmony founder Neil C Warren's book Date or Soulmate, I have and require of a woman a fairly high degree of 1) curiosity and 2) artistic passion.
I typically spend my leisure time
I play chess at least an hour every day. I like to design and build things, whether a custom made dump truck, a computer program, or designing and building a bookcase. I enjoy libraries a great deal, and finding great books in book shops.I enjoy high quality PBS programs like Downton Abbey, Poldark, etc. I enjoy art galleries, and piano performances.
The most influential person in my life has been
She must exercise great people skills, diplomacy, conflict management, respect, dignity, and great listening skills. She must be intelligent and passionately curious to discover, learn, or compose. Finally she must be 1) completely single, (legally and psychologically), 2) pursuing only a lifelong & exclusive relationship, 3) of high objectively measurable compatibility. I must have an artistically passionate woman who, if not an artistic performer / creator, is a consumer. I am attracted to a woman who writes well, using complete sentences and well developed paragraphs. Please write first before meeting, as recommended by eHarmony.
The last book I read and enjoyed
Enough: True Measures of Money, Business, and Life by John C. Bogle. Golf is Not a Game of Perfect by Dr. Bob Rotella (less about golf than about positive psychology), Making the [Marine] Corps, by Thomas Ricks. Currently reading the latter's The Generals, (a study military leadership).
The three things which I am most thankful for
- If we?re strong and not afraid to make it happen, love does defeat evil.
- I?m thankful for education and libraries and lots of good books.
- I?m thankful for the unconditional love that animals so naturally show.
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
You won?t get to know me in a crowd, or in a boisterous place like a social club. There, I?m a fish out of water. Get to know me as I pace through an art gallery, library, bookstore, watch the sunrise, view the stars under a clear sky, hike through fantastic mountain scenery, camp in the mountains, or patiently earn the trust and affections of a dog over time.
Friends Describe me as
Creative, Good listener, Intelligent, Thoughtful
A little more about me
I?m INFP (Myers Briggs) approaching INTJ. I?m moderately idealist. I?m inspired by biographies of great military leaders. I ignore sports except MMA. I'd rather watch Nova any day over sports. I'm glued to PBS & NPR.
