More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

My faith is not just a part of my life, but rather an integral part of who I am. Breathing deep and appreciating small joys refreshes my soul. Appreciating beautiful things recenters me (a photograph, prose, the beach/nature, etc). I am a lover of words: the way that they sound, the thoughts they convey, the way they can make you feel. And for sure can?t imagine life without a good cup of coffee, along with warm and authentic conversations!

I typically spend my leisure time

Chasing sunsets is a highlight, when I have the chance. Dusk, it?s my favorite part of the day. The way the sun sets daily with constant beauty, whether we have the presence of mind to recognize it or not. I love spending time outdoors, especially roaming about the California coast. Travel helps me to see the world is bigger than my little bubble. Europe is my favorite destination: the depth of history and the way they "work to live" versus "live to work" is refreshing. If spending time with the ones I love simply means a good meal or running errands, that's good enough for me.

The most influential person in my life has been

You are thoughtful and deeply kind. You are lighthearted and laugh often. Your relationship with God is foundational (you may not be perfect, but you are striving/learning), and that?s the part that I find the most important. You are comfortable in your own skin and have a good sense of who you are. You?re someone I can encourage, as we learn, grow, and are refined to be who He desires us to be.

The last book I read and enjoyed

A Man Called Ove (by Fredrik Backman) was a recent read that was light and entertaining. It's about a grumpy old man, who is misunderstood and wins over his neighborhood with his cranky but lovable ways. A good reminder that our lives intersect for a reason, and that it's another opportunity to "spur one another on toward love and good deeds".

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. Grace
  2. Dusk/Sunsets
  3. Laughter

A little more about me

Truly, we live with mysteries too marvelousto be understood. How grass can be nourishing in themouths of the lambs. How rivers and stones are foreverin allegiance with gravity, while we ourselves dream of rising. How two hands touch and the bondswill never be broken. How people come, from delight or thescars of damage,to the comfort of a poem.Let me keep my distance, always, from thosewho think they have the answers.Let me keep company always with those who say?Look!? and laugh in astonishment, and bow their heads.(Mary Oliver)
