More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

I went back to college a couple years ago and I'm now working on my Associates in Human Services. Much to my surprise (since I always hated school when I was younger), learning became a passion for me. Going back to school has taught me the value of critical thinking, and the importance of not settling with the thought that I've "learned enough." There is always something new to learn and to try, and I have been so grateful for this experience. I'm also passionate about getting out into the world and seeing different things, meeting new people, and giving myself the opportunity to broaden my perspective.

I typically spend my leisure time

I love relaxing with a good book, going kayaking, alone or with loved ones, and grabbing a bite to eat somewhere.

The most influential person in my life has been

I'm looking for a life partner. I want a solid foundation in my relationship that gives me the strength, support, and courage to go out into the world and do my thing.

The first thing people notice about me

I honestly have no idea what people notice about me. Haha!

The last book I read and enjoyed

"Mind Over Meds" by Dr. Andrew Weil. I work in Human Services, and see how all too often people are given medications for conditions that could easily be relieved or eliminated with lifestyle changes, and this book goes into detail about that. The author doesn't shun modern medicine, because it has done amazing things. He emphasizes the importance of exercising caution over what medicines we take, and stresses the importance of lifestyle when we think about our health.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My family.
  2. My dog.
  3. My life experiences and education.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

It takes me a while to open up to people when I meet them. I don't reveal too much about myself at first, but once I'm comfortable in a situation, I talk . . . A lot. And I'm a little bit fiesty sometimes, but it's nothing serious.
