More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

If I can list only one thing, I'd say I care most & deeply about social equality, and about justice and fairness for all.

I typically spend my leisure time

I have the need to stay active. I work out 2-3 times a week, usually lasting a couple of hours. I play intensely competitive Ultimate at least once (twice if my schedule permits it) a week. I used to compete in ballroom dancing but my career won't permit me time for that anymore. But I still dance socially, about once a week. Other than that, I like to engage socially with my dear friends, and am the catalyst very often for arranging our soirees. Much of the rest of my free time is spent reading up on current news (NYT, Economist, Guardian, Politico - never Fox) and/or listening to endless NPR podcasts on world affairs.

The most influential person in my life has been

The partner most suited for me would be intelligent, well-read, articulate, sophisticated, and extroverted... Someone that can engage in silly-minded witty repartee as easily as hold forth on a serious topical social issues of medicine or politics or the environment. Very important too that she is fit and into an independent, active, & healthy life style.

The first thing people notice about me

I have noticed heads turn when I walk into a room and I surmise it may be for a number of reasons - due to the way I dress and speak and carry myself, my confidence, good posture, or even simply that I am Indian.

The last book I read and enjoyed

Peter Thiel's 'Zero to One' - it was about the difference between incremental and disruptive innovation and how, while the former leads to fractional improvements in our way of life, the latter transforms it entirely. I am reading Nudge currently. Engaging read so far.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. I am grateful for my beloved parents and sisters and their limitless love for me
  2. I am blessed to have good health and a great career, and hope it continues
  3. I am delighted to have friends that love me despite myself

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

Attention should be organic - I get enough of it and do not wish for more.

Friends Describe me as

A little more about me

I pride myself at being a progressive, renaissance man. I care very much about my partner, her needs, and her thoughts. I am intelligent, articulate, well read, very caring, trustworthy, and extroverted - all the things that I would also like in a partner (wouldn't be fair otherwise). I like to stay fit and dress sharply. I have a quick, dry, and sometimes sardonic, sense of wit which my friends enjoy.

Very Liberal
