The one thing I am passionate about...
Maybe it sounds kind of vague and new-agey, but authenticity. It is precisely someone's strengths and weaknesses that make them beautiful. Recognizing myself and others that way allows us to be open to both the joys and the hurts in life, to grow, and ultimately, to connect in a lasting way. And isn't that the point? Yes, sometimes being vulnerable makes for difficult days, but doing it the other way takes all the life out of.. well, life.
I typically spend my leisure time
My free time is typically split between listening to amazing music, watching smart films (plus a little tv) and reading. I also spend time doing things that are more meditative for me: playing guitar, painting, cooking and meditating. It's really important to me to play guitar every day (acoustic, folksy, singer/songwriter stuff). Sometimes it's just 5 minutes, sometimes it's a couple hours. You might have to put up with that. I'll get you some awesome headphones, promise :)
The most influential person in my life has been
You are kind, affectionate and savor small moments in life. You love to laugh (and if you snort, totally bonus points). You understand love is both something we feel and a deliberate effort we make. Maybe you're also intellectually curious. Maybe you want to have smart, open-minded conversations about the important things in life. About saving the world. Or maybe we?ll just settle for seeing the world. Perhaps you want someone who enjoys the witty, arm-punch inducing banter that makes life fun. Whatever the case, you'll communicate.
The first thing people notice about me
I love making people laugh. There are more than enough things I'm serious and responsible about so I value any opportunity to laugh. I hope you're ok with silliness, wit and terrible puns. I'm sure my daughter has both increased my capacity for and taught me a lot about being silly and relishing the joy in life.
The last book I read and enjoyed
Since I discovered audiobooks, I go through a lot of books (at least one a week). Recent favorites include: "Eleanor & Park" by Rainbow Rowell, "Committed" by Elizabeth Gilbert. I think the subtitle is great: "A skeptic makes peace with marriage" Love her candid, comforting style. It's about her experience reconsidering marriage and her perspective on it. She injects humor and sociological considerations to give our current view on relationships some interesting context. "Daring Greatly" by Brene Brown. I am always learning something through the perspectives I garner from reading, so I devour as many bo
The three things which I am most thankful for
- Fatherhood. When she's with me, we talk mostly about dinosaurs, feelings, and dinosaur feelings
- I'm very lucky to have a successful career I love in an awesome gaming industry
- Learning each day that happiness and contentment have little to do with things
The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me
I tend to wear my heart on my sleeve. I'm generous with my heart, my affection and my thoughts. I think it's hard enough to communicate without clouding things up with dishonesty, so being honest is important to me. Being honest with myself helps me grow. Being honest with you helps us grow. I'm in this to find someone to spend many, many days with, not just a couple nights.
Friends Describe me as
Affectionate, Dependable, Good listener, Thoughtful
A little more about me
I take my gummy vitamins every day. I might sneak out in the middle of the night to catch a meteor shower. When I want to think, I?ll sit down with my guitar. I love food, soulful music, smart films. I can?t stop learning, but I believe knowledge should be for uniting, not dividing people. I crave great conversation. Often, I crave the passion of ?In Your Eyes? by Peter Gabriel, but I know love is in the everydayness and levity of Regina Spektor?s ?Folding Chair.? I hope you show me something new and different that pushes me out of my comfort zone. Except for dancing. Please don't make me dance. I might hurt myself. Or innocent bystanders
