More about me

The one thing I am passionate about...

What am I not passionate about might be better. I enjoy learning and doing new things, I can pick up on something and turn it into a hobby. Specifically, travelling and sight seeing top my lists. If I can get a new skill out of it, I'll try it.

I typically spend my leisure time

Going with friends to an event in Columbus, going out doors, anything with a group. I like the hockey games at the civic center, and also like to do races and events such as a 5 or 10k, I recently did the Spartan race.

The most influential person in my life has been

One quality is tough, a combination would be a person is open to laugh, and ready to travel with my Army career. Loyalty, maturity, and humor are among the most important things to me.

The first thing people notice about me

They would probably say I'm straightforward, I'm funny, and that I don't mince words.

The last book I read and enjoyed

"Beyond Religion" by the Dalai Llama. In this work, the Dalai Llama outlines a more ethical way of living for the future of world politics - one that he believes can be heavily spiritual yet still modern. He gives an appreciative nod to athiests, however, and recognizes that one does not need to be religious to be ethical - and he says the principles he offers are for the benefit of all. He compares religion to tea and water. Water is essential to life, but tea (religion) can make water more enjoyable and fulflling.

The three things which I am most thankful for

  1. My career. I love soldiers, I love being a leader of soldiers. That also includes the leaders who have shaped my life and outlook.
  2. Family, which of course is the foundation for my values. Their eternal support has always helped me.
  3. I am a believer in Christ, and grateful for his sacrifice. But I wont preach, Im not the greatest Catholic and have a long way to go to get right with God.

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me

I'm a bad Catholic, but I am a Catholic - and I think people are surprised that I can be personally convicted and private with my faith, even though I am never open about pressing it on others or wearing it on my sleeve. Because I tend to be a jokester, it takes a little time for people to realize I have a serious and determined personality.
