Love is an act and a choice and a set of experience and a state being as well as a feeling, maybe the deepest emotion. It would make sense that if God is love, you'll break the dictionary and the thesaurus trying to find an adequate definition or synonu\ym. B

I went to ancient Corith to find an insight from Paul, the defination from 1Corth. 13 was God inspired. love is a choice, we have to be able to love ourselves, our God, and others. Our whole purpose here is to acheive that goal.

it's like....you haven't seen him in soo long that you forget what it's lke to be near him...to taste his presence...breathe his laughter...but his eyes are still burned into your mind. and just when you think you're about over how perfect he is for you, your paths meet again unexpectedly and all of those feelings come rushing back and you feel like a little girl again choking with butterflies, unable to breathe... and reality breaks your sweet bliss and reminds you that the two of you can never be together. and the pain starts all over again...and it hurts to forget, but it's the only way that you can carry on and cling to your sanity and you feel the emty void that the feeling of love used to fill, but you've forgotten what once filled that void and you strain to recall what it was until you finally see his eyes and remember...

True love is when you are able to love your significant other even when they are not able to love you back. Love is more than a feeling. Love is an act. I agree with Cj that is caring about someone else's happiness more than your own. Love seeks to understand. When I read I Corinthians 13, I realize that my love is not perfect. If my love were perfect, I would have no fear. Perfect love casts out fear. I think we are all a work in progress and we grow in love as we make it a decision because sooner or later the highs of a relationship wear off. We act out of love and the feelings will follow.

Love is a wonderful feeling of trust and faith working together as one. Love is when your partner puts his/her arm around you and shows you off proud to be the other half to make it a whole. Butterflies as he picks you up for dinner or when he texts you letting you know that he was thinking of you..Just Because...

Hi Josh,

Could it be that you found 28 definitions of love because there is no one way to define it? In my own personal experiences I have found that there are many forms of the same word.

The love I feel for a child is different from that felt for a pet.

I still love my ex wife, however I am no longer "in love" with her.

Are there not numerous types of love? Conditional, unconditional, temporary, loaned, self.... And the list can go on and on.

If we were able to define love as one single black and white emotion wouldn't it be similar to opening a babies rattle to see what makes the sound? And if we did, wouldn't that destroy the rattle?

Love is a feeling of rightness in a wrong and vice versa. It can make you smile the whole day or leave you crying in the middle of the night. It can make you stare into space, you heart beat fast and sleepleess at night.

Other languages have different words for the various types of love. In English we use the same word to express our feelings for our children as we do for our partner. And most people assume "love" is only a noun. It is also a verb- and if this has to be explained to you, then you have not felt love for another person.
