Fascinating Relationship Science Paper
by Gian Gonzaga | April 26th, 2007Jeff Simpson is a professor at the University of Minnesota and one of the best relationships researchers in the world. He and his colleagues recently published a paper in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology the investigated how relationships early in life can effect the emotions you experience in romantic relationship later in life. They used a the Minnesota Study of Risk and Adaptation from Birth to Adulthood which has followed a cohort of individuals for almost 25 years since they were first assessed as infants back in the 1970’s. This is an amazing study that not only shows that early childhood experiences have effects on our relationships throughout or lives but also why they do.
