Of course it’s far more likely that my date and I simply won’t like each other very much and that all I’ll have lost at the end of the evening will be a tiny portion of my finite will to keep tormenting myself by dating in the hope that I’ll eventually find someone I can stand to be around. As long as the criterion for success is “not the end of the world,” that’s a huge win for me!
