Thanks very much for your interest in eHarmony’s data collection and privacy policies. Although the Canadian Privacy Commission issued a press release about their report today, the complaint against eHarmony that was referenced in it was resolved to their satisfaction last year.

Protecting our members’ privacy and providing a good experience on eHarmony are our highest priorities.  Unlike other online dating and social networking sites, eHarmony does not allow users to search its entire database of members.  We limit the personal information we collect and our members have full control over how they choose to share this information with their matches.  We also have extensive security measures in place to safeguard user data against loss, theft, misuse or unauthorized access.

eHarmony only retains personally identifiable information for business and other legal purposes, and we are in the process of implementing policies and procedures that include a maximum retention period.

Members who wish to delete their accounts permanently may do so by contacting our Customer Care team.  eHarmony customer care agents are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week by phone, email, chat and Twitter to help customers with their eHarmony experience.
